As many users of Twitter observed, and maybe even participate in, Followfriday is a growing phenomena. In the original concept you have to add three key features: “When sending a #followfriday tweet, we suggest recommending 2-3 people and including a short explanation of why people should follow them.”
It all started in mid January with this simple tweet:

And since then it’s been growing rapidly.
For me the concept is a fun way to tell the ones I follow that I like what they tweet about, but obviously I can’t followfriday on all the one’s I’m following now since I follow about +1400 ppl. And that is the dilemma of followfriday, the people you don’t have in your followfriday might be hurt that you’re not adding them. And for some it might even be a feeling of exclusion, so what to do about this? I haven’t got a good answer to that, and even if I now have endorsed +100 of the people I follow it still feel a bit incomplete to me.
I have divided my followfridays in groups like this: Influences – the people I look to as my influencer’s, Tweethearts – The ladies I follow and has a special relationship too, Mobilefriends – the people I have known since I started out in Socialmedia way back, Friends – Other friends I find interesting and that communicate with me and finally the largest group – Swedish friends – The people in Sweden (or for that matter, Swedes abroad) that I communicate often with.
Now this works, and I do some change from each Friday in some of my groups depending on whom I have more or less contact with. I realize I need to change this later on and I will do so from August, maybe cit down on the number of people, or maybe change the number of people I endorse, not sure yet.
The statistics on Topfollowfriday for me looks like this:

For me the concept followfriday (hashtags: #followfriday or #ff) is a nice way to show the people you follow that you like them, and if somebody gets mad at me for not endorsing them, well I apologize here and now.
