I have had that question on my thoughts for so long now, and God knows I have tried to get them interested but it is a difficult task to get them aboard. I know and I realize that Social web is not for everyone, and I can accept that. But  how hard can it be? I will try to list the things that can/will attract people to go into socmed.

  • Curiosity: Without curiosity we will not at all start using this way to communicate/socialize.

  • Special Interest: Maybe we have a special interest that leads to socmed to find our likes, our tribe where we can discuss and interact with them.
  • Business contacts: Taking our business relations to another level and connect in social media where we can discuss, share and comment.
  • Finding a new job: There’s a lot of examples of people that found jobs through social media’s, and in my mind this will be an even more valuable sources for finding the right people for a job.
  • Inquiry’s: When we need to reach out and find lost people, and don’t know how to go about doing it.
  • Questions: All of us finds sooner or later out that finding answers on the net isn’t an easy task, so when we joined a network (Twitter maybe) we can ask the question. For me this truly has saved time a lot.
  • Getting connected: One of the things I think is so beautiful with social medias is the possibility to get connected to people you wouldn’t get connected to without an introduction. I will go into this more in my 10 simple rules to follow i Social Media.

So going back to my initial talks, what’s the hinder for us getting more of our friends in the flow? And what can we do to get them to see the use for it?
