I have been thinking a lot lately about how my life has changed since I got my Nokia N95. I don’t think anything in my life has been so lifechanging as this, besides of course being a father. For as I have already been telling in this blog (How it all started) it all lead me into the wonderful world of social media, a world I maybe should how found but much later on, cause I’m the truly Social one in Social media. In fact I just moved my social behaviour online instead of just being social as usual. But to my sadness I couldn’t get my friends from my earlier social life to realize the charm and wonderful thing about being social this way. But I guess that’s nothing new for all of my friends out there in the Social media sphere…..
Going back now to my headline, and this is wonderful I think the possibility to be present although your friends are on the other side of the world, is what gives social media such great potential. Being able to share those special moments with a click on your mobile phone, live broadcasting directly when something exciting happens.
I was reminded this past week while on The Next Event conference here in Stockholm of Janis Krums (@jrums) tweet about the miraculous landing of a plane on Hudson river “@jkrums There’s a plane in the Hudson. I’m on the ferry going to pick up the people. Crazy. http://yfrog.com/5ffy4ej” and how it shows how we look at the things we experience. I guess Janis Krums could have been getting a small fortune for his photo, but what did he do? He sent it right up on the net too share it with everyone instead. This and many other examples is only the start of something new in our behaviour in how we share our stories.
And my guess is that the more mobile we get the more we will share our stories ‘on the fly’. I even think that the better the mobile terminals gets the more mobile all of us will be and we will use more of the services online to store our documents, photos and movies. and isn’t that the best way? “If you get it, share it!”
What are YOUR thoughts on this?
