Yesterday (the 8th of October) I attended ‘The Next Event’ conference here in Stockholm as a guest blogger. It was a day filled with inspirational speakers and a lot of good things to take home and have in one’s ‘think tank’. I will try to talk a little about the parts that made the deepest impact on me, and I know I can’t give everyone the credit they deserve so bare with me.

The Next Event was created by Johan Ronnestam and Wednesdays Relations and the statement for the conference was “A day that changes your views on modern advertising and communications”.

The conference started with Johan Ronnestam that gave a background to the conference. And the condensed essence is: ”A broad spectrum with a passion for future and communication”

Peter Lilliehöök (Historican)

Peter gave us a historical background about Branding and marketing using the Catholic church and Ansgar as examples of good Branding and MLM marketing (Ansgar). Lifetime brands (heraldic shields) and used also the Swedish kings Carl the XI and XII as good examples of branding and marketing.

Per Torberger (copywriter)

Per talked about communication and media, and why we should care about how media develops. The problem isn’t new, a discussion about media (newspapers) has been an ongoing item the past 10 years or so. There are solutions but the biggest problem is how to monetize online. If a newspaper should demand pay from their newsreaders that would also mean that search engines wouldn’t be able to index the articles = not searchable at all. The deeper essence of Per’s talk is that there has to be a change in Attitude from media to be able to survive.

Leo Razzak (Fryshuset, projectmanager Sharafs heroes)

The conference most appreciated speaker was Leo Razzak that talked about Fryshuset work with young people. He gave us first an historical background how it all started and then an in depth look at what he’s doing in Sharaf’s heroes. What he works primarily with is Honuor issues among immigrants, and how to change attitudes regarding this. It’s not a matter of religion, it’s all about attitudes.

A statement Leo made was “There’s a world outside Socialmedia and it’s a scary world” Continued with “In a couple of years about 30% of the young people will be unemployed!” and finally “we have stopped migrating (about Immigrants living in Sweden)”

He also told us that the ROI on a young person that gets education is 58 times in three years!

Leo is a very good speaker and he’s engaging in his performance, you can feel his strong passion for what he’s doing. and for you not there I have to say if you get a possibility to listen to Leo. Go do it!!!

Elia Mörling (Tribaling)

Elia and his company Tribaling works with Tribal marketing which is the new way of looking at marketing. Previously we looked at marketing groups as a group of people tied together from a segmented perspective. NOW we have to look at it from a Tribal point of view. Meaning groups with the same interest or passion., an example could be people that like dogs  or why not Iphone owners? To do marketing with tribes is to work with people from a anthropological, sociological and demographic point of view. I could go on writing about this subject as this is one that really engages me, but I have decided I will return to it later in a separate post instead.

I think this is very interesting and I always enjoy meeting and talking with Elia when we get together, Elia is a guy with good knowledge and always shares his points of views.

Andreas Lübeck (Photograper and Musician)

Andreas made a live performance using Youtube clips, Tonematrix (online software) and his Iphone. Nice and a perfect way to start after the lunchbreak.
