Watching an documentary yesterday evening about sharks and learning that we now only have about 10% of the sharkpopulation left. This affects the oceans ability to produce oxygen and since the Oceans produce about 70% of all the oxygen we’re starting to be in a bad situation there. I realize that we have such a low level of understanding how everything interact in our environment and I’m learning new things everyday.

So let me ask YOU this: What are YOU doing to make a difference? And are YOU acting now?

I have decided that I will not own a car anymore, as a part of my statement. I use commuting trains, buses and trains to go where I want to go. I will also, if I*m going somewhere not to far away go by train there rather than flying.

If it’s new for you, maybe a good start can be to leave the car at home one day of your working week?

Besides the links I have already shared about the meeting in Copenhagen, go also and read the official webpage at http://www.copenhagenclimatecouncil.com/

This is an important issue, and I know it isn’t within my usual postings here, but lets face it: Our Earth need to be RE:LOVED by all of us, and that’s why its so important that we chow that to our leaders that action has got to be taken to prevent ourselves from extinction.

So what can we do? Well I have signed the petition HERE shared the link to it on Twitter and on Facebook Change my avatar on Twitter and got the Ispeakearth widget on both my blogs to show my support and now I post this blogpost also.

So I urge you my readers to follow my example and show that you RE:LOVE our Earth, it’s so simple will only take you 2 minutes of your time so got to http://www.ispeakearth.com/ and sign IT!

You asked what I do to make a difference? I'm good at recycling. Lightbulbs, metal, newspapers, left overs from food and more are sorted by me and my kids. Some of the recycling can I leave in a place next to my garage. Some other things I do have to take the car to leave. The longest trip I have to do are when I have leave old computers and other electronics who's not working any more. The the trip is about 20 km for me. In the long run that's not acceptable.

When traveling to work I take my car to the kids school, leave them there, and then I take a walk to the bus stop. And the bus to downtown where my work is. That's OK for me. The bus stops outside the school every ten minutes.

Unfortunately I don't do anything constructive right now. In the recent election to the European Parliament and gave the Green Party here in Sweden my vote. They have a candidate from my hometown with good ideas. That felt the best thing for me to do.
  • Thanks Eric for your comment here! We all do what we can, and I also wish that I could do more.
  • You are so right Anders, the earth does need to be Re:Loved and shown the respect it deserves - we wouldn't be here without this planet to live on. It's time we stand up and make this commitment!
  • Yes Mark. I can not believe that we have let ourselves go to this point. I hope we can rectify some of it for our grandchildren and the coming generations! So lets act the best way we can!!
